Cesium chloride has been found to be an optimum concentration of 0.5mM for 3T3-L1 preadipocytes, which are cells that play a role in obesity and bowel disease. Cesium chloride also has been shown to inhibit papillary muscle contraction and whole-cell recordings from live cells. The compound may have therapeutic potential for treating heart failure by inhibiting diatomic molecule activity in the heart.
