Decanophenone also reversibly reacts with trifluoroacetic acid to form decanoic acid. Decanophenone's functional groups are useful for particle size analysis, which can be performed by reversed-phase high-performance chromatography. Decanophenone interacts with membranes and can be detected by infrared spectroscopy.
