Description:Dimethylethyl-(3-sulfopropyl)ammonium, inner salt is a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor agonist that binds to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. It has been shown to cause neuronal death in vitro and can be used as an assay for nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. The monoclonal antibodies generated against this compound are useful for studies on recombinant proteins, such as hybridization or particle formation reactions. Dimethylethyl-(3-sulfopropyl)ammonium, inner salt also has the potential to be a drug target for growth factors or cell lysis. Flow assays have been developed using this compound which allow the measurement of enzymatic reaction rates in real time.
