This activity may be due to its anticoagulant properties. 3',5'-O-Dipalmitoyl-5-Fluoro-2'-Deoxyuridine is not active against the major strains of bacteria that cause sepsis, such as methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). However, it has shown potential for use as an antibiotic because it inhibits bacterial cell division
