It is also used as a reagent in kinetic experiments involving tyrosine and albumin. The acetylated forms of these proteins are more sensitive to hydrolysis by acid and alcohols. NDFPD reacts with primary amines to form an acylated product with an ester linkage and can be used to study enzyme reactions involving amines.
