The mechanism of action is not completely known, but it is thought that (E)-1-[(1S)-1-(4-fluorophenyl)ethyl]-3-[3-methoxy-4-(4-methyl imidazol-1-yl)benzylidene]piperidin-2 one inhibits the formation of amyloid beta peptides by inhibiting the production of beta amyloid protein precursor.
