Description:5-Methyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-ol is a pesticide that can be used in ring opening polymerization to produce polyurethane. It is a tertiary butyl compound that has insecticidal properties. 5-Methyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-ol is also used as an intermediate for the synthesis of triazolinone and alkylated compounds. The yield of the reaction varies with reaction time, temperature, and pH. The optimum reaction time for this process is between 5 and 6 hours at neutral pH.
