Description:2-Methoxy-5-(2'-ethylhexyloxy)terephthalaldehyde (MEHT) is a phosphonium salt that undergoes regioselective coupling with chloride salts to form polymers. It is used in the production of polymer composites and macromolecules, such as polyesters, polyamides, and polyurethanes. MEHT has been shown to emit light at both short and long wavelengths, which can be used for emission spectroscopy. The emission spectrum of MEHT is composed of three peaks: a sharp peak at 395 nm, a broad peak at 535 nm, and a shoulder at 620 nm.
