It is used in the polymerase chain reaction, as a selective agent for cell lysis, and as an analytical reagent. Monosodium L-aspartate has been shown to have therapeutic effects on hepatic steatosis and bowel disease. This compound also can be used to treat chronic viral hepatitis and metabolic disorders. Monosodium L-aspartate has been shown to have an acidic pH of 3.5, which may not be suitable for some applications.
