Product Information
Name:Met-Enkephalin, amide
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Met-enkephalin is a potent opioid that binds to mu, delta and kappa receptors in the brain. It is synthesized from Phe-enkephalin by removal of the C-terminal amino acid Phe. Met-enkephalin is a peptide that can be reversibly converted between two forms, A and B, by removing and adding a hydrogen ion. The A form has an active carboxyl group while the B form has an inactive carboxyl group. Met-enkephalin is synthesized by solid phase synthesis on a resin that is regenerated in neutral ph buffer. This drug has been shown to inhibit ATP levels in Caco-2 cells and decrease dopamine release in vitro. It also inhibits receptor binding experiments on rat brains and reversibly inhibits the binding of enkephalins to their receptors at different pH values. Met-enkephalin's conformational properties are determined using molecular modeling software, which predicts its three dimensional
