Ref. 3D-FN26378

Product Information
Name:N-Nitroso-N-methyl-3-aminopropionic acid, methyl ester
Synonyms:
- 3-(Methylnitrosoamino)-propanoic Acid Methyl Ester
Brand:Biosynth
Description:N-Nitroso-N-methyl-3-aminopropionic acid, methyl ester (NMPA) is a carcinogen that is used in the production of butyric acid. NMPA can induce tumors when injected into the liver and lungs of rats. It has also been shown to induce tumorigenesis in the colon, small intestine, and kidney of mice. NMPA is metabolized by decarboxylation to produce n-nitrososarcosine, which damages DNA and inhibits DNA repair. NMPA binds covalently to proteins, forming amino nitroso compounds. These compounds are likely responsible for NMPA's tumorigenic effects.
