Description:1-(Pyrimidin-4-yl)ethanone (1-Py) is a synthetic pyrazole that has been shown to be an anticancer agent in animal and human studies. 1-Py has been reported to inhibit the growth of tumour cells in cell culture and animal models. It also inhibits the synthesis of proteins in cancer cells, which may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis. The synergistic effects of 1-Py with other anticancer agents have been demonstrated using spectroscopic analysis on isomeric forms. Preparative methods for this compound have not yet been developed.
