Description:3-(2-Pyridyldithio)propanoic acid is a cross-linking agent that binds to the disulfide bonds of proteins and disrupts the cellular protein synthesis process. It has been shown to be an effective agent in liposomal formulations for the treatment of cancer. 3-(2-Pyridyldithio)propanoic acid is used as a monoclonal antibody (mAb) target tissue marker for human cervical carcinoma. The anti-cancer properties of this drug are due to its ability to inhibit cell proliferation by inhibiting tumor growth and angiogenesis. 3-(2-Pyridyldithio)propanoic acid also inhibits phospholipase A2, which may lead to an increase in prostaglandin E2 levels, leading to apoptosis induction.
