Description:L-Proline dimethylamide is a ketone that can be obtained by the reaction of L-proline with methyl vinyl ketone. The enamine is synthesized from the protonated form of the ketone and an amine, which is then converted to an enamine by treatment with base. This compound has been used in asymmetric synthesis as a chiral auxiliary for alkylation reactions. It has also been used as a reagent for the preparation of optically active esters and amides.
