Description:RD 162 is a potent, selective small molecule inhibitor of NF-kB. It is currently being investigated as a potential treatment for prostate cancer and other diseases in which NF-kB plays an important role. RD 162 selectively inhibits the activation of NF-kB by targeting the IKK complex. This agent disrupts the interaction between IKKα and IκB, thereby inhibiting the phosphorylation of IκB and preventing it from entering the nucleus. RD 162 also has been shown to reduce tumor size in mouse models with prostate cancer cells that are resistant to hormone therapy and chemotherapy. RD 162 has been shown to be chemically stable, even at high concentrations and in plant cells.
