    Description:Glibenclamide is an oral hypoglycemic agent that binds to DNA and blocks the binding of the enzyme, dpp-iv. This leads to the inhibition of protein synthesis, which in turn results in decreased glucose production. Glibenclamide has been shown to lower blood glucose levels in both low-dose and high-dose groups. It has also been shown to have a beneficial effect on postprandial blood glucose levels and on cardiac function. Glibenclamide is not effective for people with type 1 diabetes or for those at risk of heart disease.
