Description:4'-TrifluoroMethoxybiphenyl-3-carboxylic acid (4'-TFMB) is a potent and selective inhibitor of the protein kinase, PI3K. It is used in dermatology to treat sebaceous gland disorders such as acne, rosacea, and erythrasma. 4'-TFMB has been shown to inhibit the activity of PI3K and thus inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells. This compound also inhibits the production of sebum by downregulating the expression of sebaceous lipids. 4'-TFMB selectively inhibits PI3K/Akt signaling pathways mediated by soluble receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) such as insulin like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF1R), platelet derived growth factor receptors (PDGFRs), and vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFRs).
