Synonyms:
- TBAP
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Tetrabutylammonium phosphate (TBAP) is a sodium salt that is used as a sample preparation agent in analytical chemistry. TBAP can be used to extract organic molecules from biological samples, such as plasma or urine. It also has the ability to extract fluorescence dyes and other substances that are covalently bonded to proteins, such as p-hydroxybenzoic acid, which is used in the production of synthetic hormones. In an experiment using two-way crossover design, TBAP was found to increase the rate of diffusion of one substrate and decrease the rate of diffusion of another substrate. This data suggests that TBAP may have kinetic effects on the enzyme responsible for catalyzing these reactions. Using this information and electrochemical detection methods, it was shown that TBAP inhibits the activity of receptor molecules with high affinity for glucuronide conjugates. The structural analysis showed that TBAP binds to specific sites on model system liver cells by forming hydrogen bonds between phosphate groups and
