Description:Tetrakis(2-fluoro-2,2-dinitroethyl)oxamide (TFDNO) is a synthetic compound that has been used as a calibrant in electron microscopy experiments. TFDNO is an electron carrier and can be used to generate reactive oxygen species in the cytosol. It also has been shown to have an exacerbating effect on mutant phenotypes of a number of different cellular processes. TFDNO is cytotoxic and can cause death by inhibiting protein synthesis or coagulation, leading to thrombotic events. TFDNO also has weight compounds that are not yet known.
