Description:Yeast extract powder is a substance that is used in experimental models to study the effects of chemicals on yeast cells. Yeast extract powder can be made by adding potassium dichromate and sodium citrate to a reaction solution, which causes cell lysis. Yeast extract powder can also be made by adding nutrient solution to a bacterial strain, such as Escherichia coli. Yeast extract powder can also be made by adding monoclonal antibodies or particles, such as polystyrene beads, to a wild-type strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Pichia pastoris). Yeast extract powder has been shown to have protease activity when reacting with surface methodology.
