In vitro assays have demonstrated that this compound increases the levels of diacylglycerol and triglycerides in cells. It also acts as a transacylase by catalyzing acylceramide synthesis. This compound may have potential in the treatment of diseases such as atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus type II, obesity and cancer.
