It is an intermediate in the synthesis of pyrrole compounds that are used to make pesticides and pharmaceuticals. The enthalpic parameters for the reaction of methyl 1-methyl-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylate with acetonitrile were determined experimentally at various temperatures. Kinetic analysis showed that the reaction proceeds via a peroxide mechanism with gaseous hydrogen peroxide as the oxidant. This substance is kinetically stable up to 200°C.
