N4-Benzoyl-5'-O-DMT-2'-O-(2-methoxyethyl)-5-methylcytidine has been shown to inhibit the growth of human tumor cells in vitro, suggesting that it may have anticancer activity. This compound also inhibits viral replication by inhibiting DNA synthesis and RNA transcription in infected cells.
