It inhibits viral replication by inhibiting the viral polymerase and cellular DNA polymerases. 2'-Deoxy-5'-O-DMT-N6-phenoxyacetyladenosine 3'-Me phosphoramidite also inhibits tumor growth by arresting cells in the G2/M phase of the cell cycle. This compound has been shown to be effective against human leukemia, lymphoma, breast cancer, and colon cancer cells.
