    Product Information

    Name:S-p-Bromobenzylglutathione cyclopentyl diester
    Brand:Biosynth
Description:S-p-Bromobenzylglutathione cyclopentyl diester (BZGCP) is a liver enzyme inhibitor that has been used in the treatment of cirrhosis and cancer. It selectively binds to the target enzyme, glutathione reductase, which is involved in detoxification of reactive oxygen species and protection against oxidative stress. BZGCP inhibits the activity of this enzyme, thereby preventing the formation of glutathione from cysteine and glycine. This leads to increased levels of free radicals in the cell, leading to cell death. BZGCP also has antitumour activity by inhibiting DNA synthesis and protein synthesis in tumour cells. BZGCP has been shown to be more effective than sorafenib (an inhibitor of tyrosine kinases) when treating human lung cancer cells in vitro.
