Description:3-Hydroxyflunitrazepam is a benzodiazepine that has been used in the past as an anesthetic agent. It is metabolized to 3-hydroxymethyl-4-phenylpyridine, which is excreted in urine. The main metabolites of 3-hydroxyflunitrazepam are 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroxyphenylacetic acid and 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroxyphenol. This drug can be detected in urine samples by gas chromatography with chemical ionization detection (GC/CI). The GC/CI technique is a sensitive analytical method for the determination of drugs in human serum and urine samples by measuring their retention time relative to caffeine.
