GS-9256 is a potent and selective protein inhibitor that blocks the NS3 protease of hepatitis C virus (HCV) and may be used in the treatment of chronic HCV infection. The drug also inhibits other serine proteases such as thrombin, trypsin, factor VIIIa, and plasmin.
