The ligand is a heterocycle that binds to transition metals. It has been shown to be a powerful borinic and axial ligand, which is able to coordinate with both sulfur and oxygen atoms. The ligand has been used in the synthesis of a number of organometallic complexes containing transition metals, including nickel, copper, palladium, and platinum. This ligand has also been used in the preparation of noninvasive vibrational spectra from crystals of inorganic compounds.
