Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic with potent activity against many Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. It is used in the treatment of urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, and intra-abdominal infections. Tert-Butyl (4-methylpyridin-2-yl)carbamate is a tertiary amine with the chemical formula C5H9N. It is a white crystalline solid that can be soluble in organic solvents and has a melting point of 220°C. The tert-butyl group is attached to the nitrogen atom in the pyridine ring, which also contains two methyl groups.
