Descrição:16α-Hydroxydehydroepiandrosterone is a steroid hormone that is synthesized from cholesterol. It is a metabolic intermediate in the synthesis of androgenic hormones, such as testosterone and dihydrotestosterone, from cholesterol. 16α-Hydroxydehydroepiandrosterone has been shown to have anti-cancer properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit cholesterol synthesis and promote apoptosis in cancer cells. 16α-Hydroxydehydroepiandrosterone also has been shown to have effects on the regulation of lipid metabolism, including effects on fatty acid concentrations and polycystic ovarian syndrome. Uptake of 16α-Hydroxydehydroepiandrosterone into the human liver has been observed using an enzyme activity assay in vitro with human liver microsomes. This drug was found to be metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes before being excreted in urine samples.
