Descrição:An apolipoprotein E N-term heavy tryptic peptide standard for use in protein identification and quantitation studies. As part of a fat-binding protein family, apolipoprotein E plays a role in the metabolism of fats in the body through interacting with the low density lipoprotein receptor, which is involved in the catabolism of triglyceride rich lipoproteins. Apolipoprotein E is also a major component in cholesterol metabolism and is a carrier of cholesterol in the brain. Additionally when forming a complex with C1q, apolipoprotein E is an inhibitor of the classical complement pathway. The N and C terminal regions of apolipoprotein are connected by a hinge region and the N-terminal region is an anti parallel four helix bundle with non-polar sides positioning themselves inside the protein.
