Descrição:1-(3-Methoxy-4-methylphenyl)ethan-1-one is a synthetic compound that has been used as an acceptor in the Grignard reaction. This reaction involves the addition of halogen, such as chlorine or bromine, to a carbon atom that is bonded to three other atoms, most commonly hydrogen. 1-(3-Methoxy-4-methylphenyl)ethan-1-one has been shown to have antibacterial activity against both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. This may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with the bacterial cell wall and alter its permeability. 1-(3-Methoxy-4-methylphenyl)ethan-1-one also has acidic properties which may contribute to its antimicrobial effect.
