The drug has been shown to reduce body weight in obese patients and improve glycemic control in type 2 diabetes. It also inhibits the chemoattractant protein CXCL12, which may contribute to its role as a chemotherapeutic treatment for cancer. This drug has been shown to have no effect on heart rate or blood pressure in healthy volunteers.
