Descrição:7-Deaza-2-mercaptoadenine is a synthetic molecule that has been shown to be effective in vivo as an antibacterial agent against Gram-negative pathogens. It has been shown to have a comparable efficacy to the comparator, pleuromutilin. 7-Deaza-2-mercaptoadenine also showed activity against experimental infection with methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Clostridium difficile, which were not affected by comparator. 7-Deaza-2-mercaptoadenine is active against Gram negative bacteria by inhibiting protein synthesis through the inhibition of bacterial ribosomes.
