Descrição:Methylmagnesium bromide is an organometallic compound that is used in organic synthesis. It is a colorless liquid at room temperature and pressure, which has a basic structure with a methyl group attached to the magnesium ion. The steric interactions of the methyl group with other functional groups in the molecule can be used to control reactivity. Methylmagnesium bromide has been shown to be reactive with sodium-dependent glucose and also acts as an anti-inflammatory agent against inflammatory bowel disease and endometriosis. Methylmagnesium bromide has been shown to have a number of natural compounds, including malonic acid and magnesium salt, which are produced through hydrolysis by enzymes such as pepsin or pancreatin. The methyl group that is attached to magnesium ion can be replaced by other organic groups, such as allyl carbonate. This reaction is known as Grignard reaction and it is important for many reactions in organic synthesis.
