Descrição:2-Nonanone is a chemical compound that is a member of the group of fatty acids. It is used in biofuels as an octane booster and has been shown to be effective against resistant mutants. 2-Nonanone has been found to have a number of physiological effects, including lowering blood cholesterol levels and inhibiting platelet aggregation. It also possesses antioxidant properties and can be used as a solvent for glycol ethers, oligosaccharides, and methyl ethyl ketones. The phase transition temperature of 2-nonanone is -43°C, which makes it useful for applications such as kinetic data collection at low temperatures. 2-Nonanone binds with receptor molecules in the liver microsomes of rats, leading to increased activity of cytochrome P450 enzymes that metabolize xenobiotics.
