Descrição:Piperazine is a chemical compound that is used as an insecticide and herbicide. It is also a part of the structure of the neurotransmitter dopamine. Piperazine has been shown to inhibit the reuptake of dopamine by blocking the dopamine transporter protein, which leads to increased extracellular concentrations of dopamine. This increase in dopamine can be simulated using molecular modelling techniques. The 3-nitrophenylacetyl chloride moiety on piperazine has been analysed using high-resolution simulations and crystallographic data to help understand its activity in inhibiting the dopamine transporter.
