The linear regression analysis indicated that the active methylene group of this compound is responsible for its activity. 4-Nitro-1-naphthyl)amine can be used in mammalian cells as a cytotoxic agent. This compound also reacts with nucleic acids, which may be due to its ability to react with the hydrogen atom of the hydroxyl group in the sugar moiety of nucleic acids and its aromatic ring.
