Firocoxib is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that belongs to the class of NSAIDs. It is used for the treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and acute pain. Firocoxib has been shown to significantly reduce the number of patients with inflammatory diseases who require surgery. This drug also has significant interactions with other drugs and can cause life-threatening side effects. 2,4-Dichlorofuro[3,2-d]pyrimidine (2,4-DFPD) is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase.
