N-(2-Aminoethyl)piperazine (NAPE) is a chemical compound that can be used as an environmentally friendly catalyst for the degradation of ethylene diamine and other amines. 3-Aminopiperidine-2,6-dione hydrochloride salt (3AP) is a synthetic agent that has been shown to inhibit prostate cancer cell growth. 3AP inhibits the synthesis of DNA by inhibiting the enzyme benzoate and potently inhibits the enzyme pomalidomide synthetase. This drug also has antiangiogenic properties and has been shown to reduce expression of TNF-α in human myeloid leukemia cells. 3AP is not active against HL60 cells, which are a type of white blood cell. It can be used as an alternative treatment for cancer in patients who have failed to respond to other therapies or who cannot tolerate them.

5-Methoxyindole-3-acetic acid (5MI) is an endogenous indole and metabolite of melatonin that is found in high concentrations in the human serum. 5MI has been shown to inhibit the activity of cyclase enzymes and may be a specific inhibitor of the type I form of estrone sulfate, which is involved in estrogen production. This agent also inhibits matrix metalloproteinases and aminotransferases, which are enzymes that play a role in oxidative injury. 5MI also has a fluorescent derivative that can be used as a probe for biological samples or to study the target enzyme.
