The binding affinity of this ligand has been experimentally determined by measuring the ability of the compound to displace [3H]raclopride from the D2 receptor. This ligand is also able to bind to other dopamine receptors, such as D3, D4, and 5HT2A. 1-(4-Methoxy-naphthalen-1-yl)-ethylamine has been shown to be a highly selective ligand for the D2 receptor in computational studies. In addition, it has been shown that 1-(4-methoxy-naphthalen-1-yl)-ethylamine selectively binds to rat striatal membranes with a high affinity in comparison to other brain regions.
